Detroit Edison Upgrading Southeast Michigan
By Tim Somers on Sep 20, 2007 in General
DTE Energy has begun the more than $600 million dollar upgrading project covering Southeast Michigan. The project will focus on -
Replacing or if appropriate, repairing hundreds of transformers, fuses, lightning arresters and several other components of the operating equipment.
Thousands of trees are scheduled to be trimmed in an effort to reduce power outages.
Miles of overhead power lines will be replaced or reconductored.
Utility poles, into the thousands, will be inspected to identify and correct potential problems.
The entire Southeast Michigan electrical system will be rebalanced to prevent overloading electrical circuits.
Although an exact time frame has not been released for the projects completion; this is part of Detroit Edison’s ongoing commitment to deliver energy to their customers.
