Downriver Business Association’s Networking is so hot, they needed their own Firehouse! Wyandotte, Michigan The Downriver Detroit Business Association has grown so much in the past year they had to move from Southgate to a larger hot spot in Wyandotte.

They are now located at 2011 Oak Street inside the old Firehouse. Since the group was developed two years ago, it has grown to over 400 members and can account for thousands of dollars spent within the group, by good old fashioned networking. Founders Laura Wyatt and Kevin Carnahan created the group in 2005 with the idea to provide a networking atmosphere for small businesses with meetings, on-line forums and web promotions that no other associations in the area were really providing for members. For only $145 a year, members get an ad, link and listing on their web site: www.dadba.org , they can attend all the meetings very month or as many as they choose. There are breakfast, lunch and evening meetings as well as a open house meeting.
They have done several Downriver Michigan Business Expo’s and plan several more for next year to further promote their members. Anyone can hop on their on-line bulletin board and post announcements about their business. But basically the postings you will read are businesses doing business with members and finding information to expand their business, on-line.
The group is unique and effective because of the simplicity. Meetings consist of introductions of members and guests and creating awareness of their products and services. “This group has added about 20% to my bottom line for the past six months. It is a great group to work with and many have also become great friends. Laura and Kevin do a great job to keep this association fresh.” Said Leanna Bronni, owner of Bronni Vision Boutique.
They chose the Firehouse for the way it was designed. “We are able to have our members use the first floors for meeting clients, seminars and open houses and others utilize the open aired suites upstairs for lease. So far the business also located at the DADBA site include, Dr. Freidman, Barcountants, Danase Detailing, Rising Market Concepts, Purity Cleaning & Real Estate Services.” said Laura Wyatt, DADBA Director. Purity Services is owned by founder Kevin Carnahan and is one of the many businesses he and his partner Laura who has been in sales for many years, also work to produce their enterprising ventures.
In this struggling economy, DADBA members are thriving. The 1920’s era firehouse will be the place to network and do business in Downriver Michigan now and for years to come. For more information on how to join DADBA visit www.dadba.org .
