Your Michigan Stories Could Pay Off
By Tim Somers on Oct 15, 2007 in General
The Center for Michigan — an Ann Arbor nonprofit that bills itself as a “think and do tank” — is spearheading a contest in an effort to get Michigan, and in particular its state government, out of the bottomless member divide that has occurred over the past few years.
The Center is out to have a bit of fun along its journey. It will be sponsoring a storytelling contest called “Envision Michigan” with more than $30,000 in prizes.
College scholarships, vacations to the best Michigan get-a-ways, shopping sprees are just some of the opportunities everyone from high school students to retirees can cash in on. Boyne USA Resorts, The Grand Hotel, Meijer and Thunder Bay Resort are sponsoring the story contest prizes.
You simply have to write a essay about the things you love about Michigan, what if anything you think should be changed and tell your vision on how you see the future of Michigan outlining an action plan on how the state could make your suggestions a reality. You can submit conventional essays, photo essays and even the popular online video at www.thecenterformichigan.net/stores.
