3,500 Realtors Left Michigan Last Year

Michigan is experiencing the worst housing slump in state history. Michigan real estate agents are leaving the state in record numbers.  Some 3,500 Michigan real estate agents left the state last year.

Just a few years back real estate agents prospered, now many are struggling with a hard decision, move out of the state to a more stable market or change careers.

With more homes on the market, then qualified home buyers and lower commissions the Michigan Association of Realtors has lost an estimated 10 percent of their members.  Michigan real estate agents are taking on second jobs and some are even putting their real estate licenses in escrow, hoping the market will take a turn for the better in the near future.

Nationally real estate agents are dwindling as well, the National Association of Realtors state they will be down 4 percent at years end or 56,000 from their record high 1.4 million at the start of 2007.

Let’s hope the entire country will be back on track and prosperous after the 2008 elections.
