Michigan College Football Better Than Super Bowl
By Tim Somers on Nov 1, 2007 in General
Michigan College football hosts 15 home games between University of Michigan and Michigan State. Approximately $177 Million is generated directly and indirectly into the Michigan economy, more then three times the amount of revenue the 2006 Super Bowl XL, held at Ford Field brought to the state.
This new study conducted by Anderson Economic Group LLC, a Lansing-based consultant for economic and business relations states that Super Bowl XL brought in $56 million throughout the entire state of Michigan, drawing 70,000 fans to Ford Field. Michigan State and U of M football games draw some 1.37 million fans to the games. Tickets, parking, food and drink make up $88.7 million of the $177 million generated by the dedicated Michigan football fans.
