Michigan Group Delivers Holiday Cheer

The Volunteers of America Michigan have an adopt a family program that hooks up needy family’s that are facing hard times with sponsors that have provided various gifts, making the holidays a much happier time for the less fortunate.

With times even tighter than normal this year, your help is needed even more.  The best gift you could give this year is a beautiful Christmas for a local family down on their luck.

There are several ways to get involved and make a difference:

Direct Sponsorship - Provide a new toy and article of clothing for each child in the family, along with a grocery store gift card or food basket for Christmas dinner. The items should be gift wrapped and tagged with each child’s name. Then, you may deliver the gifts to the family yourself or Volunteers of America will deliver them for you.

Gift Certificate(s) - Purchase a gift card for the family from a super store (Meijer or Super K-Mart, etc.) that carries food, toys and clothing all at one location. This allows parents to buy products they like and saves you the time of shopping, gift-wrapping and delivery.

Cash Donation - Your donation will be combined with others to adopt families.

Here is how your cash donations are used -

$20 — provides an entertaining toy for a child
$30 — provides warm winter clothing for a child
$50 — provides a filling holiday dinner for a family
$85 — provides a great Christmas for a senior
$150 — provides an entire Christmas experience for a family of four (food, clothing, and toys)
