Developing a Stronger Workforce for Michigan’s Businesses

Michigan is committed to educating and maintaining a highly-trained workforce. The Economic Development Job Training (EDJT) program was created in 1994 to ensure that the state has the training resources to retain and attract businesses and people for the 21st century economy. More than $348 million in EDJT grants has helped more than 600,000 Michigan workers improve their skills. “Keeping up with the pace of manufacturing innovation is an ongoing challenge for the employer and employee alike,” Michigan Economic Development CorporationSM (MEDC) President and CEO James Epolito said. “Funding for skills upgrading will keep our companies competitive and keep them creating jobs in Michigan.” The funding is provided by the MEDC as part of the Manufacturing Competitive program, an initiative to encourage collaboration between regional employers.
