Number One Michigan Tourism Web Site Announced

Michigan.org has captured the most popular state tourism web site in American for 2007, based on stats from Hitwise, an online measurement company.  Michigan.org has the largest percentage of United States visits than any other state tourism web site the entire year of 2007. 

George Zimmerman, vice president of Travel Michigan a business unit of the Michigan Economic Development Corp said the Pure Michigan campaign is making all the difference by sending web surfers to Michigan.org in record numbers.

Visit are up 22.8 percent over 2006 with some 12 million plus visitors to the site in 2007, that’s 34 thousand times a day.  It’s clear that travelers from all over the country are looking to Michigan for their vacations.  Michigan’s tourism industry is hugh with almost $19 billion being spent annually in the state by visitors traveling in of through Michigan.  200,000 jobs and over $1 billion in state taxes are generated yearly.
