Track Your Pizza Order?

I love technology and am always curious to see what new program or gadget will be launched into the mainstream. In most cases new technology is created to fill a void or enhance your experience with a current product or service, and I commend those that come up with the incredible ideas that I have seen or used in my life time thus far.
Ann Arbor Michigan based Domino’s Pizza has launched a new service called “Pizza Tracker”. They claim that this is a first in the food delivery industry. The new technology gives a Domino’s Pizza customer the ability to follow the process of their pizza order online whether the order was placed online or via phone.
This service really has me scratching my head, wondering how many of the millions of people that order pizza were complaining that they did not know if their pizza order was being made or if it was in the oven or if it’s being cut and boxed up.
We have pizza just about every week – never, not once has my wife or kids asked…hmm wonder if our pizza is in the oven yet? Or think they are cutting our Pizza right now? It’s just a given you order a pizza and don’t think about it again until roughly 30 minutes later it is at your door.
Domino’s Pizza Tracker is available in 3,400 Domino Pizzeria’s across America using the Domino’s Pulse computer system. Pizza Tracker is said to be accurate to within 40 seconds. Once you order you visit Dominos.com plug in your phone number and you will see a horizontal bar that lights up red as each step of your pizza order progresses from start to finish.

I can’t get excited about this new technology I don’t really see the benefits of it. Domino’s just keep making great pies and get them to me in 30 minutes or less – and keep cranking out the great commercials – here is one of my favorite ones –
