Children with Hairloss Benefit

Business Conference to Benefit Children with Hairloss

On Wednesday, February 13, 2008, the Downriver Small Business Conference & Expo will be held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate, Michigan from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This is a full day of activities designed to promote business in the Downriver community and is being presented by the Downriver and Detroit Business Association (DADBA) and Downriver Community Federal Credit Union. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Children With Hairloss www.childrenwithhairloss.us, which is a non-profit organization that offers assistance in the form of hair replacement to children with any form of short or long term medically related hair loss (chemotherapy, radiation, burns, accidents, and all types of alopecia).

The day will be organized into two separate segments, each with a unique purpose and audience. The first segment starts at 8:30 a.m. and includes 5 workshops with topics designed to help business owners and decision-makers grow their business and survive our challenging Michigan economy.

The topics include “Top 10 Mistakes Business Owners Make, And How to Avoid Them,” “Your Business, Your Legacy: Minimizing Business Risk,” “Approved! Financing Business Growth,” “Networking: Putting It All Together,” and “Improve Your People Skills, Grow Your Business”.

The registration fee is only $20 and includes a continental breakfast, all workshop sessions, and lunch. The conference ends at 3:00 p.m. and concludes with an opportunity for Open Networking from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. while transitioning into the evening segment.

The second segment is a community expo which begins at 5:00 p.m. and is designed to promote a wide range of new and existing products and services from businesses all over the Downriver area. This is a great opportunity to learn more about local businesses as well as to take advantage of special offers, prize drawings, and giveaways.

The expo is open to the public and there is no charge for admission. The entire event concludes at 8:00 p.m. with a special ceremony in which we will present the proceeds check to the Children With Hairloss organization.

“This event is all about strengthening our community. Our goal is to help these businesses grow and succeed, which in turn will help our community grow as well,” says Mark Tremper, Event Co-Chairman and Vice-President of Business Services at Downriver Community FCU.
