Michigan is a Spring Break Destination

I am all for building Michigan Tourism, as life long Michigan resident we choose to Chef's Challengevacation here in Michigan.  The are many beautiful vacation spots throughout the state during the summer as well as during the winter months.

I commend Joe Breidenstein and his efforts to make spring breakers aware of all that Michigan has to offer.  But I do wonder if the mindset of the thousands of spring break travelers would even consider coming to Michigan instead of the traditional Florida, Arizona or Caribbean destinations that are so popular.

Come mid February I too am thinking enough is enough I can’t wait for the weather to break, and often dream of travling to some tropical location to get a taste of the warm weather that seems so far away during the long hard Michigan winters.

Nevertheless, Joe Breidenstein is promoting spring travel to Michigan with the Chef’s Challenge scheduled for late April.  His efforts include no less than 11 billboards that have just been posted on Michigan’s northern highways.  The effort is sure to get the attention of skiers and snowmobilers now and will hopefully plant the seed for thinking Michigan for Spring Break.

The Chef’s Challenge for Challenge Mountain will be held at Shanty Creek Resort near Bellaire.  Challenge Mountain is a nonprofit organization that provides adaptive recreation solely to people with special needs.

The Chef’s Challenge will be held April 25-27 and feature Michigan food products paired with Michigan wines and microbrews. Teams from northern Michigan will compete against teams from southern Michigan.
