Airport Runway Expansion Still Up In The Air
By Tim Somers on Mar 21, 2008 in General
200 people packed the Wayne County Airport Authority meeting held Thursday with home and business owners that would be affected by the purposed expansion of the Detroit Michigan Metro Airport. A decision on the plans was tabled until May of this year.
Since I don’t travel all that often, I just don’t understand why another expansion is needed. Airport Executives claim a new runway is needed to solve future congestion problems. This expansion will affect some 3,000 homes and many Romulus businesses, as well as a couple of elementary schools.
Seems the city of Romulus is against the expansion, Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert hinted that the city might just take legal action if the authority approves the new runway.
