Michigan’s MDOT Construction Web Site Launched
By Tim Somers on Mar 27, 2008 in General
Currently I-75 has no less than 5 major construction projects in the works, I have been
able to avoid the Michigan Highway so far. In a move to keep travelers in the loop so to speak, The Michigan Department of Transportation launched a new Web site that promises to have up to date information on I-75 road and bridge construction schedules for Oakland and Wayne counties.
The site outlines the five major projects that run from South Rockwood Michigan to Clarkston Michigan. Over $288 million dollars will be invested in 2008 and 2009 by MDOT to improve 22 miles of Michigan’s main freeway, I-75. These improvements will also include 90 bridges.
Greg Johnson, Metro Region Engineer, said the website will inform the public prior to getting behind the wheel. We want everyone to know that Metro Detroit is open for business and many alternate routes are available to help residents and tourists alike avoid delays and closures.
The Michigan Department of Transportation last week announced the launch of a new Web site designed to provide traveler information on I-75 road and bridge construction scheduled for Oakland and Wayne counties.
The five projects on I-75 include:
*Reconstruction of I-75 between S Huron River Dr and Gibraltar Rd in Wayne County
*Reconstruction of I-75 between Clark Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard in Detroit
*Bridge repairs on I-75 between I-375 and M-8 (Davison Freeway) in Detroit
*Bridge repairs on I-75 between M-102 (Eight Mile Road) and I-696 in Oakland County *Bridge repairs on I-75 between Maple Road and M-15 in Oakland County
The “I-75 Corridor Improvements” can be found on the MDOT Web site at www.michigan.gov/mdot under the “Projects and Programs” link.
