Austin Barbershop Becomes Home to Guinness World Record
Austin, TX, On August 23, one man, Ivan Zoot, Director of Education and Training at Andis Company, broke three Guinness World Records for “Most Professional Haircuts in an Hour,” “Fastest Haircut” and “Most Haircuts in a 24-hour Period” with an astounding 340 haircuts. Rooster’s Men’s Grooming Center was chosen from hundreds of locations across the U.S. to host this unique event, which raised money for two great charities, Children with Hairloss and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas. Regina Villemure of Childtren with Hairloss took part in this World Record by staying up 24 hours sweeping hair along side of Ivan Zoot
“Most Professional Haircuts in an Hour” 34
“Fastest Haircut” 55 seconds
“Most Haircuts in a 24-hour Period” 340
Men, women and children of all ages and with all hairstyles came out to the event; waiting up to two hours for their chance to make history by receiving a haircut that oftentimes took less than a minute! Guinness-approved witnesses took turns monitoring the quality of the haircuts and making sure at least ½ an inch was cut off every hair.
“The event was just like the Olympics, only here in Austin,” says Joe Grondin, CEO of Roosters Men’s Grooming Centers. “Roosters is proud to be the home of a World Record and very thankful to all our sponsors and supporters who helped bring this record back to the U.S.”
Roosters Men’s Grooming Center was founded in 1999 and is known for combining modern grooming techniques with classic barbershop elements in an environment that is focused on men. The barbershops are designed to combine old fashioned customer service with warm, comfortable surroundings and cutting-edge styling techniques.
The World Record charity event was made possible by sponsorship support and the help of numerous volunteers such as Dean and Donna Hudson, who closed their Arlington-based barber shop to come out to Austin to cheer on Zoot. The Title Sponsor was KASE 101, with other sponsors including: Andis Company, Minuteman Press, Marquee Tents, Firehouse Subs, Red Robin, Sally Beauty, PGC, and Woody’s Men’s Grooming Products. In addition, a variety of bands donated their time and talents to help out this great cause, playing well into the night and early morning.
